This year's theme is Black Excellence Unparalleled:Pressing Onward in Power.

Powerful forums and discussions will include DC statehood, financial wellness, civil rights and criminal justice (and that's just within the first two days).

Established in 1971, the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has been committed to using the full Constitutional power, statutory authority, and financial resources of the federal government to ensure that African Americans and other marginalized communities in the United States have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. The Caucus is Chaired by Congresswoman Joyce Beatty.

2022 Medal of Freedom Awards Given at White House

The 2022 class of the Medal of Freedom included the likes of attorney and civil rights activist Fred Gray , Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, U.S. Oylmpic medalist Simone Biles , Khizr Khan and the first person to take the COVID-19 vaccination, Ms. Sandra Lindsay, and SNCC founding member Diane Nash . The event, held in the East Room of the White House, honored these individuals because of their significant contributions and impact to society. Specifically, the award is "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interest of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors." DC August Job Fair Alert: 1,000 open positions; scholarships and more!

O n Thursday, August 11 and Friday, August 12 , the Mayor's office will hold a virtual DC Government Summer Hiring Fair with more than 1,000 positions open across DC Government. If you are a DC resident, you can claim preference when applying for a job at DC Government. Registration is now open and will remain open until August 7. DCHR is also hosting a seminar on Friday, August 5 to help participants prepare for the job fair. You can register for the job fair and learn more about the prep session at dc.gov/JoinOurTeam . DC Scholarships Families can now apply for scholarships of up to $10,000 to cover the cost of after school, weekend, summer, and other out-of-school time programs and activities.
