(GWUL) will commemorate 76 years of service in metropolitan Washington, DC, at its 42 nd Annual Whitney M. Young Jr. Memorial Gala that will be held at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel (1000 H Street NW Washington, DC 20001) on Wednesday, March 19, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “ GWUL ON THE MOVE, ” in recognition of the GWUL moving forward with a new leadership team and promoting ways to raise the consciousness of the community to become healthier and more fit in the greater Washington region.   LaughFest To Feature Chris Tucker on March 14th For Gilda’s Club Fundraiser in Grand Rapids, MI. Actor and comedian Chris Tucker has kicked off his long awaited 2014 ‘PAYBACK TOUR” hitting comedy clubs around the country. Tucker is receiving rave reviews from audiences who are excited to experience him up close and personal and his hilarious new comedy show material.  To date every show has been sold out, including selling out 10 shows alone at the Comedy House in South Carolina and some additional cities selling out shows in under 10 minutes. Congresswoman Norton Introduces Bill to Honor Frederick Douglass

  Frederick Douglass ' birthday is February 14, Valentine's Day.   Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) has introduced a bill to establish a Bicentennial Commission to study ways that the federal government might honor and celebrate not only his birthday, but his life.   In her statement for the Congressional Record introducing the bill, Congresswoman Norton said,     “Douglass dedicated his life to achieving justice for all Americans.  He lived in the District of Columbia for 23 of his 57 years as a free man and was deeply committed to obtaining equal congressional voting and self-government rights for District of Columbia resident.  My bill would simply establish a commission to examine ways the federal government can honor Douglass during the bicentennial anniversary of his birth, including the issuance of a Frederick Douglass bicentennial postage stamp, the convening of a joint meeting or joint session of Congress for ceremonies and activities relatin

It's not often you read about mainstream media calling First Lady Michelle Obama the most beautiful First Lady - ever. You may read storylines that say First Lady Obama "looked stunning", or that she "wowed" in (insert designer name here), but never has she gotten the title, Most Beautiful First Lady, Ever! , until here, and now.   We're making it official.
