Obama Wins Re-Election!

Signed. Sealed. Delivered. He's Yours!
Barack Hussein Obama wins re-election as President of the United States of America.

President Obama defeated Mitt Romney, winning 303 of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the 2012 election in perhaps the closest race, leading up to the election, in presidential history.

Romney with 206 of the electoral votes, in his concession speech during the wee hours of Wednesday morning said, he has been "humbled", while President Obama in his victory speech said to supporters, "You lifted me up the whole way and I will always be grateful.

He thanked the country's First Lady, his wife, Michelle and his daughters Sasha and Malia for her support, noting how his daughters were growing up to be fine, smart young women.

"Just like their mother", the president said to a roar from the crowd.

The president has fought hard during his first tenure for the rights of women.  Among them:  fair pay, health care, economic success, and education.

While pundits fought tooth and nail over the president's record of the last four years, calling his policies and practices "a failure" voters again saw a human element that spoke to the American people, unlike his challenger Mitt Romney, who never really succeeded in connecting with the average American, alienating at least 47% .

Yet, the president said he wanted to work with Romney (and other Republicans) to find ways to move the country forward, together.

Romney, who often was seen as agreeing with the president on a lot issues, (and more) in his concession speech early this morning agreed with President Obama.

"Our people have to reach across the aisle to do the citizens' work," he said. Romney, who ran on his record for leading businesses, said in his speech that he's counting on businesses to move the country forward.

Said the president, "This country only works when we accept certain obligations to one another and to future generations so that the freedom which so many Americans have fought for and died for comes with the responsibilities as well as rights; and among those are love, charity, duty, and patriotism.   That's what makes America great."

Voters stood in long lines across the country, some for more than four hours.  Some polling places ran out of paper ballots., prompting the president to take note and remark on the issue.

"By the way, we have to fix that", he said.

With the president and his family returning the Washington later today, "the task of perfecting our Union - moves forward."
