Whitney Houston Goes Home In Style

True to everything that was Whitney Houston -  style, grace, and beauty - the pop star's funeral held Saturday at New Hope Baptist where she grew up, was that and more.

The going home ceremony was attended by family and scores of invited friends who gathered to say goodbye to the beautiful songbird; among them Angela Bassett, Tyler Perry, Whitney's Bodyguard co-star Kevin Costner, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and another Newark born and raised star, Queen Latifah.

Alicia Keyes, R. Kelly, BeBe and CeCe Winans, and Stevie Wonder performed at the ceremony.  Pastor Marvin Winans gave the eulogy.

A touching moment, and there were many, during the service came at the end as Houston's casket was being lifted onto the shoulders of the ball bearers, the final realization that Whitney Houston is no longer with us, at least not in body.

Houston's friend Ray J. could be seen very emotional, touching the casket as his friend and rumored 'girlfriend' passed by one last time.

Whitney will return to the screen in the remake of the 1976 movie Sparkle, which originally stared Lonette McKee, Dwan Smith, Irene Cara and Mary Alice as the mother of the three girls.  Houston will star as 'Effie', mother to Jordan Sparks. The movie is due to be released August, 2012.

Houston was laid to rest today at Fairview Cemetery next to her father, John Houston, in Westfield, NJ, but her spirit will be with us always.   Always.
